Rancho Santiago’s Anderson Shuts Out Golden West
Sheryl Anderson pitched a complete game, giving up one hit and striking out five for visiting Rancho Santiago, which defeated Golden West, 3-0 in Orange Empire Conference softball Friday.
Selena Aquino had an RBI single in the third and Melissa Cruz had two stolen bases for Rancho Santiago, which improved to 15-12-1, 4-2.
Jenny Hart pitched seven innings, giving up three runs on three hits and striking out six for Golden West (6-10-1, 1-5).
In another Orange Empire Conference softball game:
Fullerton 11, Riverside 0 (5, mercy)--Lynette Velasquez, Terry Cortez, Kelly Wilkerson, Kristy Bonwell, and Nikia Owens had two hits each for first-place Fullerton (20-8, 6-0), which led, 7-0, after three innings.
Softball game postponed:
The Saddleback softball game at Cypress scheduled for Friday was postponed because Saddleback didn’t have enough players to field a team.
The teams are expected to play a doubleheader later this season, but no date has been set.
In nonconference men’s volleyball:
Los Angeles Pierce 3, Orange Coast 0--Adam Clint had 27 kills for Los Angeles Pierce (8-1, 8-1), which won, 15-13, 15-12, 15-8.
Kevin Reid had 25 kills and Josh Richardson added 19 for Orange Coast (9-1, 7-1).
