Driver Dies After Bus Slides Into River
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A Cambridge, Mass., transit bus plunged off an ice-slickened highway into the Charles River, killing the driver, a hospital spokeswoman said. It was not immediately clear if anyone else was inside. Divers were searching the front and back of the mostly submerged bus. “An initial sweep indicates there was only one person in the bus,” Sgt. Paul Malone said. The driver was pronounced dead at Massachusetts General Hospital, a spokeswoman said. His name was not released. Officials are not sure when the crash happened.
