Man Hurt Stepping Out of Moving Car
A Ventura man who stepped out of a moving car after an argument with the driver was listed in critical condition at Ventura County Medical Center on Monday evening, authorities said.
Ventura police said Kae Hun Ko, 42, had been riding in a car driven by 50-year-old Sung Ho Jo, also of Ventura, shortly before midnight Sunday. The two men were on their way home from a restaurant in the city where they had been drinking.
While driving down Telephone Road approaching Partridge Drive, the two got into an argument, authorities said, and Ko demanded to be let out of the car, which was going about 40 mph.
After Jo refused to stop, Ko opened the passenger-side door and stepped from the moving vehicle onto Telephone Road, suffering major head injuries. He was taken to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment, where police said he remains in a coma.
Jo was cited for driving under the influence and released. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
