Nordic Biker War Claims 8th Victim
Gunmen shot and killed a member of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, bringing the toll to eight dead in a three-year Nordic biker war. Police in Aalborg, a small town on the Jutland peninsula, said 26-year-old Kim Svendsen was driving when a vehicle pulled alongside and opened fire, killing Svendsen and wounding passenger Lars Nielsen, 26. Police raided the homes of known members of the rival Bandidos gang and detained 14 people for questioning. Police suspect the killing was a response to a December shooting in which a Bandidos member was seriously wounded. The two gangs, offshoots of U.S. bike clans, have been battling over turf in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden since the Bandidos established themselves in the region in 1993.
