Posey’s 24 Points Lift Canyons, 91-78
Mike Posey scored 13 of his 24 points in the second half to lead College of the Canyons to a 91-78 victory over Oxnard in a Western State Conference interdivisional basketball game on Tuesday.
Canyons improved to 10-8.
Leland Mayes scored 24 points for Oxnard (7-12).
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Antelope Valley 59, Rio Hondo 52--Chakana Mayo had 18 points and 11 rebounds for Antelope Valley (6-9, 1-1 in conference) in a Foothill Conference game at home.
Stacey Hartwell had 16 points and 12 rebounds for Antelope Valley and Kristin Phillips had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Phillips made four of nine three-point attempts.
Cal Lutheran 103, Caltech 30--Melissa Wood scored 33 points and Brandie Murrish had 24 points to lead Cal Lutheran (6-2) in a nonconference game at Caltech (1-11).
BOYS’ SOCCER
Saugus 2, Antelope Valley 0--J.D. Rotteau scored in the first half and Jeff Hammond scored his 19th goal in the second half for the Centurions (10-2-2) in a nonleague match at Saugus.
Fillmore 1, St. Bonaventure 0--Homero Magana scored on an assist from Martin Arredondo in the 19th minute in a Tri-Valley League match at Fillmore.
Fillmore improved to 7-0, 4-0 in league. St. Bonaventure dropped to 1-6-1, 0-3.
Rio Mesa 4, San Marcos 1--Jeff Evans and Keith Yanov scored in the first half and Jaime Ambriz and David Cervantes scored in the second half for the Spartans (4-1-1, 2-0-1) in a Channel League match at San Marcos.
Palmdale 3, Paraclete 0--The Falcons (9-1-2) got one goal on a penalty kick by Enrique Flores in the nonleague match at home.
Kim Britton and Steven Lisska also scored for Palmdale.
Buena 3, Santa Barbara 0--The Bulldogs (8-1-2, 3-0) scored two goals during the first six minutes of play and goalie Andy Davies made four saves for his third Channel League shutout and fifth overall at Santa Barbara (7-2-2, 1-1-1).
Littlerock 2, Valencia 0--Tim Cea scored in the 12th and 25th minutes to lift the Lobos (6-2-1) in a Golden League match at Valencia.
Oak Park 5, Nordhoff 0--Russell Prior scored three goals and goalie Jason Brody had seven saves to lead the Eagles (5-3-1) at home.
Calabasas 3, Brentwood 0--Nick Forland scored two goals and Brian Lando scored one to pace the Coyotes (4-2-2) in a nonleague match at Calabasas.
Calabasas’ David Rosenberg had one save to record his fifth shutout in eight games.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Dos Pueblos 3, Oxnard 3--Anna McCroskey’s three goals rallied Oxnard (2-3-1, 0-2-1) in a Channel League match at Oxnard.
Ventura 10, Hueneme 0--Lindsay Shull had two goals and Sarah Costello had two goals in a Channel League match.
Buena 1, Santa Barbara 1--Barbara Almaraz scored her eighth goal for Buena (9-2-2, 1-0-2) in a Channel League match at Buena.
Hesperia Sultana 3, Lancaster 1--Kari Orlando scored for Lancaster (6-7-1) in a nonleague match at Sultana. .
Hart 3, Quartz Hill 2--Erin Masaki scored twice for Hart (8-1-2) in a nonleague match at Quartz Hill.
