Evans & Sutherland Sells Graphic Tool Unit

Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp. said it sold its graphic tool kit subsidiary, Portable Graphics Inc., to privately held Template Graphics Software Inc. The maker of interactive computer systems acquired Austin, Texas-based PGI in 1994. PGI will be combined with San Diego-based Template Graphics and VRML Inc. to create a new graphic tools and utilities company, Total Graphics Solutions. Evans & Sutherland would not disclose the terms of the sale but said the agreement will allow it to keep a minority interest in the new company. A spokesman for Salt Lake City-based Evans & Sutherland said the transaction is not expected to affect the company’s financial results. Evans & Sutherland shares fell 87.5 cents to close at $24.25 on Nasdaq.
