Rumble With the Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks tussled with the Ducks at the end of Friday’s 2-0 Duck victory, but it was nothing like the Kings-Blackhawks brawl that led to a $5,000 NHL fine against each team after the Kings’ 4-2 victory Nov. 17 in Chicago.

The Kings and Blackhawks meet tonight at the Forum for the first time since then, but Chicago players weren’t making any threats.

“I know we’re not concerned about personal vendettas right now,” Chicago’s Tony Amonte said. “We’re more worried about getting two points. That’s got to be our main focus.”

In Friday’s ruckus, the Ducks’ Dave Karpa was given a double-minor for roughing and a 10-minute misconduct after time expired, and Chicago’s Chris Chelios was assessed a roughing minor. Duck Coach Ron Wilson wasn’t concerned about repercussions because there were no game misconducts or match penalties.

“Just a little scuffle,” Wilson said. “I think Chicago is a little frustrated. They lost to San Jose and they lost to us. I think a lot of teams come to California expecting to win two or three games.”

Duck defenseman Jason Marshall missed a second game because of a cut finger on his right hand. Right wing Roman Oksiuta, bothered by a right ankle sprain, missed his fifth consecutive game. Forwards Shawn Antoski, who has a hip injury, and Jeremy Stevenson, who sprained an ankle, also are out.
