Students Gather Gifts for Needy
Orange Coast College students will collect Christmas gifts for needy and abused children in Orange County through Dec. 13.
The Angel Tree Project, now in its 12th year, hopes to gather 3,000 gifts by Dec. 13, organizers said.
Many of the recipients, “have been abused and are presently living outside the home for their own safety,” said Barbara Newbern, who is coordinating the effort. “Others come from poor families and are living in desperate circumstances.”
The names of children will be on Christmas trees in many locations on the campus. Residents may pick names from the tree in advance of purchasing gifts, or drop off unwrapped presents at the Associated Students College Life office in the Student Center.
