Several Locations Offer Free Flu Shots

Free flu shots will continue to be available to seniors and all others who qualify at various locations throughout the San Fernando Valley through Dec. 6. The immunizations are offered by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services in cooperation with the American Red Cross.

According to Jaya Koilpillai Greene, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles chapter of the American Red Cross, the target groups for the services are senior citizens as well as anyone with chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular, pulmonary and renal diseases or people considered more susceptible to the flu.

Flu shots will be offered at 60 locations countywide. Appointments are not necessary. For information and to verify the date and time, call: (888) 575-3437. Immunizations will be available at the following locations in the San Fernando and nearby valleys in the next several weeks:

* East Valley Multipurpose Senior Center, 5000 Colfax Ave., North Hollywood, from 1 to 3 p.m.

* Orchard Arms Nutrition Site, 23520 W. Wiley Canyon Road, Valencia, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

FRIDAY

* Wilkinson Senior Center, 8956 Vanalden Ave., Northridge, from 9 to 11 a.m.

MONDAY

* Valley Storefront Multipurpose Senior Center, 12821 Victory Blvd., North Hollywood, from 9 to 11 a.m.

* West Hills Medical Center, 7325 Medical Center Drive, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

WEDNESDAY

* Devonshire Community Service Center, 16263 San Fernando Mission Road, Granada Hills, from 10 a.m. to noon.
