The best ideas are so slap-on-the-forehead obvious that you simply can’t believe nobody thought of them before. The insulated French-press coffee maker from Trudeau is one.

The French-press part is nothing new. Reputedly one of the best methods of making regular coffee (as opposed to espresso), they can be found all over. But the other presses are all made from glass, and coffee made in them--no matter how good it starts--gets cold quick.

Enter Trudeau and industrial designer Pierre Tardif, who combined a French-press maker and a lunch box-type thermos to come up with a system that makes good coffee that stays hot.
