Christians in Israel
In response to Yossi Klein Halevi’s “Christians Are Israel’s Silent Majority,” Commentary, Oct. 3: I, for one, and I believe I may speak for many Christians, do not have a “religious attachment” to the Via Dolorosa. To Christians the spot has a historical meaning only. Unlike Muslims or Jews, we Christians do not have a spiritual kinship or attachment to land, no matter where it may lie. Our focus and attachment is to Jesus as we know him by his word. If the spot were blown to smithereens it would not evoke outrage in us. Our savior lives in our hearts and our focus is there.
