Teen Dies After Being Hit by Car
SYLMAR — A teenage boy who failed to look both ways before crossing a busy street died after he was struck by car, police said Friday.
Victor Rivas, 14, of Sylmar was talking with a friend about 5:30 p.m. Thursday when they decided to cross in the 14000 block of Hubbard Street near Bradley Avenue.
According to police, the boys did not look before crossing the four-lane street and did not see the car that struck Rivas, who died at 10 p.m. Thursday at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
The driver, who came to the aid of Rivas, was not cited, police said. The boy’s friend was not injured.
