HOCKEY DAILY REPORT : Rychel Gets Ring, Also Gets in Fight
Duck winger Warren Rychel got his Stanley Cup ring Thursday morning, but his Colorado homecoming wasn’t all fun. Rychel got an instigating penalty after fighting Brent Severyn at the end of the second period. He later returned and scored his first goal of the season.
The Ducks’ other tough guy, Ken Baumgartner, left the game after a fight with Severyn earlier in the period. Team officials suspected he may have separated his left shoulder when he was taken down hard by Severyn.

Left wing Garry Valk played for the first time after sitting out the first three games while recovering from a hyper-extended left elbow, an injury suffered in an exhibition. Valk replaced Valeri Karpov on a line with Steve Rucchin and Joe Sacco.
Also scratched: Defenseman Adrian Plavsic, who made the team with a solid exhibition season but was a minus-three after three games and was one of the defensemen having trouble getting the puck out of the Ducks’ end.
The other Anaheim scratches were injured winger Paul Kariya and extra forward Joe Day.
