Woman Checking Car Alarm Is Shot to Death
A 45-year-old woman was fatally shot in South Los Angeles on Saturday morning when she confronted would-be thieves who had triggered an alarm on a car that her husband, a mechanic, had repaired, police said.
Olinda Maldronado was shot in front of her house in the 1400 block of West 58th Street when she went outside to check on the activated alarm, said Los Angeles Police Det. Carlos Velasquez.
Velasquez said it was uncertain if the thieves were trying to steal the car or its wheel rims. He said it was also unclear how many thieves were involved.
Maldronado died at the scene. The car was not taken.
