They Went Out With a 5-Hit Whimper

By mustering only five singles, the JetHawks wasted a solid start from right-hander Greg Wooten and lost to the San Bernardino Stampede, 4-1, at the Ranch in San Bernardino, dropping their final three games of the season.
Wooten (8-4) pitched seven innings, yielding four runs on five hits while striking out 11 and walking one. But San Bernardino’s Tom Price pitched a complete game, striking out six and walking none.
The JetHawks finished the second half in fourth place in the California League Southern Division with a 35-35 record. They were 71-69 overall.
