Police Arrest Roommate After Man Is Stabbed at His Apartment
HUNTINGTON BEACH — A 47-year-old man was stabbed twice Saturday night and his roommate was later arrested as a suspect in the assault, police said Sunday.
Miguel Pineda suffered a two-inch cut in the neck and a four-inch wound to his back in a fight at his apartment at 7701 Amberleaf Circle, Sgt. R.K. Miller said. He was treated at Pacifica Hospital in Huntington Beach and was not critically hurt, Miller said.
Jilberto Ramirez, 33, who lives with Pineda, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Miller said.
The two men had been drinking beer with friends at their apartment when Ramirez and another man got into an argument about 9 p.m., Miller said. Ramirez went into a bedroom and returned with a “kitchen-type” knife and allegedly got into a fight with Pineda and stabbed him after he broke up the original altercation.
After the stabbing, Pineda walked a quarter-mile to the Pacifica emergency room for treatment, Miller said, and hospital officials then called police.
