Tennessee Studying Oregon State Tape
Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning says the Volunteers are planning for their Sept. 7 game against UCLA by watching videotape of the Oregon State defense.
“That’s what I’d be doing,” Rocky Long said on Friday.
Long is the Bruin defensive coordinator, moving down the coast from Oregon State, where he put together the nation’s 15th-ranked defense last season for a 1-10 team.
“There’s some differences, but they can probably pick up the stunts and things like that from Oregon State,” Long said. “I know they got film of all 11 games last year.”
There is no film exchange with Tennessee, which plays tonight against Nevada Las Vegas, because the Volunteers will be UCLA’s first opponent.
“I’ve got a buddy back in Tennessee taping the TV game,” said Long. “He’ll overnight it to me.”

Flanker Derek Ayers, listed as second-string, behind Rodney Lee, was back running routes Friday, albeit gingerly while he continues to recover from a sprained ankle.

Ever wonder about the value of a football scholarship? UCLA lists it as $10,742.50 per year for an in-state player, $20,217.94 for an out-of-state player, which includes room, board, tuition, books and fees. Those living off-campus this season will receive a monthly check for $704 for room and board.
