DE LA HOYA vs. CHAVEZ DAILY REPORT : Best Bout Might Feature Arum, King
There are various media events planned for fight week, including several appearances by both Julio Cesar Chavez and Oscar De La Hoya as well as a question-and-answer session with the respective trainers.
But the most intriguing event is a Thursday debate at Caesars Palace between rival promoters Bob Arum and Don King, who have battled for years over control of their sport. This just might be a better matchup than Chavez-De La Hoya.
The subject matter of the debate has not yet been revealed. But then, what difference does it make? Arum and King could make an argument over the color of the trunks entertaining.

There’s another fight in Las Vegas this week involving a Southern California boxer. Heavyweight Jeremy Williams (25-1, 22 knockouts), coming off a 10-second knockout of Arthur Weathers in March in Long Beach, will face Vincent Boulware (29-8-1, 19 knockouts) in a 10-round main event at Arizona Charlie’s Hotel and Casino. The Williams knockout of Weathers was the quickest in state history.

The Los Angeles Sports Arena, one of 31 Southern California locations showing the Chavez-De La Hoya fight, is adding an extra touch by erecting a ring under the big screen and parading ring-card girls around it between rounds.
