Another Sunny and Mild Week Forecast

San Fernando Valley residents can look forward more sunshine and warm weather this week, interrupted only by the late-night and early-morning low clouds and fog typical of this time of year, weather experts said Sunday.

“We don’t have any major system nearby affecting our weather,” said Eugene Van Cor, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard. “Nothing to talk about. No fronts coming through.”

The only major factor having any impact on Southern California is a high-pressure system centered over Arizona and New Mexico that helps promote the pleasant weather here. The low clouds and fog are created by a marine layer that brings moisture inland overnight but burns off by afternoon, leaving only hazy sunshine.

This week, low temperatures will be in the mid-50s to low 60s, and high temperatures will reach the 80s.

The only winds will be light sea breezes, 12 to 15 mph near the coast and a little lighter in the Valley, Van Cor said.

For today, the high temperature in Van Nuys, Burbank and Northridge will be around 78. Woodland Hills should reach a high of 83.
