Obituaries : Una P. Shores, 74; Devoted to Family
Una P. Shores, a Camarillo resident since 1971, died Saturday after suffering a heart attack a few days earlier.
Shores would have celebrated her 75th birthday today. She was born in Wheatland, Mo., in 1921. After growing up in Kansas City, Mo., she moved to Phoenix, where she lived until she moved to Camarillo.
Shores worked as an office manager for the W.T. Grant Co. for nearly 15 years, first in Phoenix and later in Camarillo, said her daughter, Toni Bradley, of Ventura.
“She found her greatest satisfaction in caring for her family,” Bradley said. “Her sense of humor, giving spirit and hospitable nature made her a joy to be around.”
Shores loved to travel and to square dance, and one of her greatest joys was studying the Bible with her Bible Study Fellowship group, Bradley said. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ventura.
Besides her daughter, Shores is survived by her sister, Neva Lyon of Oxnard, two stepsons, two granddaughters, two step-grandsons and one step-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Ventura, 426 S. Mills Road, at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
