The Inland Empire has the top high school basketball players in the state this season, according to Cal-Hi Sports. The monthly magazine selected Corey Benjamin of Fontana and Maylana Martin of Perris as its boys’ and girls’ players of the year. Benjamin was selected over Kevin Augustine of Santa Ana Mater Dei, Jason Thomas of Compton Dominguez, Kevin Bradley of Crenshaw and Chris Burgess of Irvine Woodbridge. Martin edged out Tracy Morris of Moraga Campolindo, Kerri Walsh of San Jose Mitty and Alissa Murphy of San Diego Scripps Ranch for top honors.
