Nation IN BRIEF : TEXAS : U.S. to Beef Up Border Security

In an effort to curtail drug smuggling, the United States will beef up security along its border with Mexico by adding 650 inspectors starting in October, the U.S. Customs Service commissioner said. “Our efforts to find drugs being smuggled along our ports of entry will improve in the future because we will have more people in the field,” George Weise told a news conference in El Paso.
