Woodland Hills : Pierce College Pianos to Be Sold to Public

The Pierce College music department will hold a piano sale Sunday.

Department Chairman Stephen Piazza said the pianos, ranging from concert grands to baby grands, uprights, spinets, consoles and digital keyboards, are loaned to the school by music companies such as Kawai America Corp., Steinway, Baldwin, Yamaha and Roland, among others.

Music students use the pianos for a year and then the companies sell them to people in the community and donate new ones to the school, Piazza said.

The piano sale is “an opportunity to own a fine piano at incredible savings,” Piazza said. Pianos generally sell for about 25% less than new, college officials said.

Prices start at about $1,000 for small pianos and rise to as much as $25,000 to $30,000 for the larger ones. Appointments to view the instruments may be made before Saturday by calling (818) 716-8590.

The sale, open to the public, will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday in the music department on campus.
