SEASON AT A GLANCE: Bautista, who competes in the 135-pound classification, is among the Southern Section’s best lightweights. He placed sixth in the state finals last season after withdrawing because of a knee injury. He is ranked sixth in the state and is heavily favored to repeat as Channel League champion.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Bautista improved his record to 28-2 Saturday by defeating Henry Saga of Alhambra, 9-2, in the finals of the Chaffey tournament. Bautista recorded three pins in the tournament--raising his season total to 13--and was selected the outstanding wrestler in the lower weight classes. Earlier in the week, he pinned Jarom Gaitan of Ventura in 56 seconds during a league dual meet.
