Update : Follow-up on the news : Council Belatedly Congratulates Pringle
It took two meetings, but the City Council has finally passed a resolution praising state Assemblyman Curt Pringle (R-Garden Grove) on his election as the new speaker.
Councilman Tom Carroll first proposed a congratulatory resolution at the council’s meeting in early January. Since Pringle lives in a neighboring city and his children attend school in Cypress, Carroll believed a friendly salute was in order.
But Councilwomen Gail H. Kerry and Cecilia L. Age voted against putting the item on the agenda. They said they saw no reason to “rush” the matter.
Carroll succeeded in getting the resolution placed on the council’s meeting agenda two weeks later. The item was placed on the consent calendar--a listing of usually routine measures approved without discussion--and received a unanimous vote.
