PREP ROUNDUP : Lalazarian Leads No. 6 Tustin Past Esperanza
David Lalazarian scored 21 points to help sixth-ranked Tustin beat Esperanza, 57-45, in the semifinals of the Trabuco Hills boys’ basketball tournament Thursday at Capistrano Valley High.
Josh Greer had 25 points for Esperanza.
In the semifinals of the La Quinta tournament:
Calvary Chapel 76, Garden Grove 65--Kevin Falconer scored 28 points for Calvary Chapel, which plays Katella in tonight’s final.
In the Longview (Tex.) girls’ basketball tournament:
Mater Dei 51, Dallas Bryan Adams 44--Rhonda Gondringer had 24 points for the Monarchs (1-0) in a first-round victory.
In the Ladycat Classic:
Brea Olinda 68, Apple Valley 36--Jennifer Saari had 19 points and six assists for Brea Olinda (5-1) in a second-round game.
In a nonleague game:
La Quinta 61, Cypress 51--Tina Shum scored 20 points for La Quinta (1-2), which broke a 26-game losing streak.
In pool play of the Vanguard Cup girls’ soccer tournament:
El Modena 2, Marina 1--Nicole Bandel and Kaylee Whitfield scored for El Modena (2-1-1), ranked fifth in the county. Monique Alvino scored in the 77th minute for second-ranked Marina (1-2-1).
Santa Margarita 2, Danville Monte Vista 0--Pa’tra Glavin and Ami Aylor scored for Santa Margarita (3-0-1), the top-ranked team in Orange County.
