YORBA LINDA : La Palma Ave. Crash Kills Young Driver
An 18-year-old died Monday after his car crossed a median and struck another vehicle, police said Tuesday.
Albert Altamirano of Riverside was westbound on La Palma Avenue east of Weir Canyon Road about 5:30 p.m. when his car veered into the eastbound lanes and struck a utility vehicle, Brea Police Lt. Douglas Dickerson said.
Altamirano died at the scene.
The other driver suffered a broken ankle and neck injuries. He was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Anaheim, Dickerson said.
The accident was being investigated, and detectives did not know why Altamirano crossed the median. Both drivers appeared to have been traveling within the speed limit, Dickerson said.
