Whittier La Serna 31, Brethren Christian 16--Brethren Christian’s Dan Muilenburg scored two touchdowns.
Down 14-0, Muilenburg got Brethren Christian on the board with a 57-yard run followed by Mike Hauser’s extra point.
La Serna’s Ryan Mele scored his second touchdown of the night on a four-yard run, putting La Serna (4-0) up 21-7 in the second quarter.
Muilenburg added his second touchdown in the second quarter on a one-yard run, pulling Brethren Christian to 21-13.
But after a La Serna field goal and another touchdown, Brethren was unable to comeback. Hauser added a 27-yard field goal in the third for its final score.
San Jacinto 7, La Quinta 6--San Jacinto’s conversion kick following Bobby Duistermars’ third quarter, three-yard touchdown run was the difference between a tie and a victory.
La Quinta running back James Ngyuen scored in the fourth quarter after running nine yards, but the Aztecs failed on their conversion kick. La Quinta is 0-4.
