Fillmore Man, 74, Hurt in Crash
A 74-year-old Fillmore man was injured Saturday after attempting to make a U-turn on California 126 near Piru, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Jose De Alejandro was treated at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital after the 11:35 a.m. accident and released later in the day, hospital officials said. His 66-year-old wife, Teresa, who was a passenger in the car, was injured but not hospitalized.
The accident occurred when De Alejandro, attempting to make a U-turn on the two-lane highway near Powell Road, was broadsided by William Gerbing, 45, of Newhall. Gerbing was not injured, but his 43-year-old wife, Kathleen, sustained minor injuries, CHP officials said.
