Writers Club Helps Literary Toilers Master a Tough Market : At the next county group’s meeting, writer/photographer Bill Stermer will talk about how to approach editors.

There is no local writing group from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara whose services can compare to those offered by the Ventura County Writers Club. Its monthly meetings, genre workshops and newsletters provide professional information and support for literary toilers in a tough business.

Writer/photographer Bill Stermer will address the group at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on “The Care and Feeding of Editors.” He will focus on how to approach editors and avoid pitfalls. The event is held in the Orchid Professional Building, 816 Camarillo Springs Road, Camarillo. Non-member fee is $5. Call 482-5648.

Ventura writers consistently win awards. At the just-concluded Santa Barbara Writers Conference, Joan Raymund and Bill Spellman of Ojai took home honors.

Host Michael Silverblatt will interview Quincy Troupe, co-author of the controversial autobiography of musician Miles Davis. Troupe will discuss the process of inhabiting another person’s memories.
