NCAA SOFTBALL : UCLA, Fullerton Win in Regionals to Advance to College World Series
Jennifer Brundage singled to drive in Kelly Howard in the top of the fifth inning Sunday, propelling the UCLA softball team to a 4-3 victory over Hawaii in an NCAA regional final at Columbia, S.C.
The No. 2 Bruins (46-6) advance to the College World Series, beginning Thursday at Oklahoma City.
With the score tied, Howard doubled to start the fifth and was sacrificed to third by Kathi Evans before Brundage drove her in.
Hawaii finished 47-21.
In a regional at Northridge, Senetha Thomas hit a two-out bases-loaded single in the eighth to lead No. 3 Cal State Fullerton (45-15) to a 2-1 victory over Cal State Northridge (43-17) and a berth in the College World Series.

In the Division III final, Lisa Cancilla capped a four-run first inning with a two-run homer to lead Chapman (43-5) to its first title with a 4-2 victory over Trenton State (48-6) at Storm Lake, Iowa.
