MOORPARK : Fireworks Planned for July 3 Celebration
Fireworks and a 1950s band will be part of an Independence Day celebration scheduled the evening of July 3 in Moorpark, the City Council has decided.
The event will kick off the city’s free summer concert series at Arroyo Vista Park.
Because there is less demand for fireworks displays the night before the Fourth of July, the city will get more bang for its buck, said Christine Adams, director of Moorpark’s Community Services Department.
The event, to be held at the Moorpark High School Stadium, will start about 7 p.m. Fireworks will begin after 9 p.m., Adams said.
The City Council last week approved contributing $1,300 to the summer concert series, which will include a country-Western show July 23, a jazz and swing performance Aug. 6, and a reggae concert Aug. 20, she said.
