Camera Platforms Reduces Losses From Year Ago
Camera Platforms International Inc., a Valencia maker of dollies and cranes used in filming motion pictures, said it narrowed its loss to $81,000 in the first quarter that ended March 31 from a $413,000 loss in the first quarter last year. Revenues in the first quarter increased by 30% to $1.27 million from $973,000 last year.
The company attributed these results to better sales of dollies and cranes and increased rentals of its camera cars. It also noted that the Northridge earthquake in January, 1994, took a toll on last year’s first-quarter revenues.
Camera Platforms announced in March that Western Production Services Inc., a holding company owned by Santa Fe, N.M., businessman Paul M. Roth, had agreed to acquire the company.
