News, Tips & Bargains : A Free Day at State Parks
Admission to all state parks except Hearst Castle will be free on Monday, the beginning of California State Parks Month. Throughout May, California State Parks, which showcase and protect examples of California’s ecological and cultural diversity, will stage special displays and programs.
Taking a Tour the Wright Way
Daily tours of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Wisconsin home and estate, Taliesin, are slated to start Monday. Wright lived and worked at the 600-acre estate 45 minutes west of Madison from 1911 to 1959. In Pennsylvania, Fallingwater, the weekend retreat that Wright built for the Edgar Kaufmann family in 1936, also has opened for the season. Reservations are recommended two weeks in advance. Information: Fallingwater, P.O. Box R, Mill Run, PA 15464; (412) 329-8501.
