VA Check Deposit s
“Robberies Lead Post Office to Delay Some Deliveries” (Feb. 11) points out different ways to deter theft of mail, including Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) checks. However, it does not point out the best deterrent of all--direct deposit/electronic funds transfer.
Direct deposit safeguards VA payments by electronic deposit to a veteran’s checking and/or savings account on the date payment is due without having to rely on mail delivery. VA compensation and pension beneficiaries may sign up for direct deposit by completing an authorization form at their bank or by visiting or calling the VA regional office and providing their VA claim number, bank, and account information. The VA regional office is located in the Federal Building at 11000 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, 90024.
VA compensation and pension beneficiaries who are still receiving checks and would like safe monthly payments by direct deposit should give us a call at (800) 827-1000.
