Wellcome Cleared to Market Centocor’s Cancer Drug: The British drug maker has been given the green light to market a treatment for postoperative colorectal cancer patients, developed in Germany by Centocor. It is the first-ever approval of the drug, Wellcome said. The drug, called Panorex, was invented by Centocor, a biotechnology company based in Malvern, Pa., and licensed to Wellcome. A five-year study carried out in Germany showed that it extended patients’ lives. Colorectal cancer is the second-most common cancer.
