42 Linked to Swiss Cult Are Arrested

PARIS — Police in France arrested 42 people Tuesday and seized records they hope will unravel the mystery of a doomsday cult and the deaths of 53 disciples.
Twenty of those arrested were released later Tuesday.
The operation, carried out in cooperation with Swiss authorities, reportedly dealt with the finances of the Order of the Solar Temple.
The cult was thrust into the global spotlight when 53 followers, many of them bound and shot, were found dead in Switzerland and Canada in October.
