Jones to Coach Boys’ Track at Quartz Hill
Casey Jones, girls’ track coach at Quartz Hill High since 1989, has been named head coach of the Rebels’ boys’ program.
Jones, a 1976 graduate of Quartz Hill, replaces Don Crimin, who stepped down as boys’ coach in June.
Crimin has been involved with Quartz Hill athletics since the school opened in 1964 and is expected to return as a volunteer assistant.
Mike Moeller, an assistant football and track coach at Littlerock High for the past two years, will replace Jones as girls’ coach.
The Quartz Hill girls’ team has won six consecutive Golden League track titles.

Jon Bischop, who finished ninth in the 3,200 meters in this year’s Southern Section Division I championships for Canyon High, will attend Southern California College in Costa Mesa.
Soccer
Tami Pivnick of Chaminade High scored two goals in the championship game of the Maccabiah Games as Los Angeles won the gold medal with a 4-1 victory over New York.
Los Angeles (5-0) scored 15 goals and allowed only three during the tournament.
