GARDEN GROVE : Woman Electrocuted in Residential Pool

A woman was electrocuted late Wednesday night in a swimming pool that may have had a wiring problem.

Kathryn Douglas, 21, was pronounced dead shortly after midnight at West Anaheim Medical Center, said Garden Grove police Lt. John Woods. He did not know whether Douglas lived at the house where the pool was located.

A preliminary investigation indicated “possible faulty wiring,” Woods said. He said Garden Grove Fire Department workers answered a call about a reported drowning at 11:10 p.m. in the 11100 block of Biscayne Court.

Rescuers determined she had been electrocuted in the pool, he said.

Southern California Edison technicians were called in to check wiring but found no problems with the company’s wires going from the street to the house, said Criss Brown, spokesman for the utility. The company is not responsible for wiring on the property.

An investigation is continuing into the cause of the electrocution, police said.
