PacifiCare Health Systems Inc.: The firm said Wednesday that it has agreed to buy a Miami-area health maintenance organization for an undisclosed price.
PacifiCare agreed to buy Pasteur Health Plan, a 27-year-old company with 50,000 members. PacifiCare said plans to complete the deal, which is subject to regulatory approvals, within the next 90 days. Pasteur Health Plan, based in Hialeah, Fla., will retain its name and will become part of PacifiCare of Florida, which has 20,000 members in six south Florida counties, including Dade and Palm Beach. PacifiCare has more than 1.2 million members.
