Police Seek Laguna Beach Man Missing Since Saturday
LAGUNA BEACH — Police were searching Monday for a retired surgeon from Laguna Beach who has been missing since Saturday.
Dr. W. Basil Shardlow was last seen at 1:30 p.m. Saturday by a clerk at an Albertson’s supermarket six blocks from his condominium, said his wife, Lynn Shardlow. He recently had a liver transplant and needs to take medication four times daily.
Lynn Shardlow said she last saw her 62-year-old husband when she left their downtown Laguna Beach condominium at 11:15 a.m. Saturday to go on an errand. When she came home, her husband was gone.
Dr. Shardlow, who is a retired surgeon and professor from Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, has been ill for the past two years, Shardlow said. Police fear he may have become disoriented.
The missing man has an English accent and was wearing a green baseball cap, turquoise V-neck sweat shirt and gray sweat pants, Lynn Shardlow said. He is 6-foot-2 and weighs about 175 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
