Car Collision Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Injured
NORTH HOLLYWOOD — A Glendale man was killed and two others were seriously injured when his car crashed into a car making a left turn into a driveway, authorities said Friday.
Eric Nikoian, 25, died Thursday at the scene of the 9:50 p.m. accident in the 6700 block of Whitsett Avenue in North Hollywood, authorities said.
Nikoian was a passenger in a car driven by 18-year-old Nazaret Abovian of North Hollywood, who remained at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he was being treated for head and facial injuries.
Another passenger, Lyla Bennett, 21, of Glendale, also remained hospitalized at North Hollywood Medical Center, where she was treated for a fractured right wrist and broken legs, said a hospital spokesman.
The driver of the car making the left turn, Guadalupe Jose Gutierrez, 26, of North Hollywood, was not hurt in the collision. He was not cited.
Police said that Gutierrez was driving northbound on Whitsett Avenue near Vanowen Street when he made a left turn into a driveway. A southbound car rammed into Gutierrez’s car and crashed into two parked vehicles.
