Project PRIDE Rally Will Be Held Today
SANTA ANA — As many as 4,000 children and adults are expected to attend Project PRIDE’s rally against gangs and drugs today, officials for the city’s gang prevention program said.
The rally will begin with a banner competition at 8 a.m. at Rancho Santiago College. John Reed, a popular DARE police officer and ventriloquist, will entertain the audience with his puppet “Shortstuff,” spokeswoman Dawna Sims said.
PRIDE stands for “Parks and Recreation Inspire Dignity and Esteem,” she said.
A march will begin at 10:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (714) 647-5399.
