The first of two benefits for the Ecumenical Service Alliance, a countywide group that runs a transitional homeless shelter for women and children, will be held this weekend.

Actress Morgan Brittany will be the host of the eighth annual Afternoon Tea & Bubbly on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at 10841 Hideaway in Santa Ana.

The group will also sponsor a tennis tournament at the UCI Tennis Center on May 21.

Proceeds from the events will aid Martha’s House, a shelter for women and children, and other alliance programs.

The Laguna Hills-based organization provides shelter and emergency assistance to people suffering from spousal abandonment, eviction, foreclosure, major medical expenses, loss of job, fire and other emergency situations.

The cost of Sunday’s tea is $25. Those attending will be serenaded by a string trio and are eligible for door prizes such as a hand-painted porcelain Morgan Brittany doll.

The event will also feature a showing of watercolor paintings by Carolyn Westfall.

Reservations can be made by calling (714) 544-7534.

There is no charge for attendance at the tennis charity event, which will feature demonstration matches by pros Gretchen Galt Miller and Dick Miller. Tournament matches for women, men and mixed doubles will be played throughout the day.
