The Channel Islands Harbor Parade of Lights is accepting applications for its 28th annual parade of boats, which will be held Dec. 11.

“This is a celebration of the holiday and a way for boaters to say thank you to the community,” said Judy Lyons, a parade organizer.

Awards for the most creative interpretation of the “Back to the ‘50s” theme will be given out by Doug Tracht, a KLOS-FM radio personality also know as the Greaseman, who is the parade’s grand marshal.

Parade officials will also give awards for the best photographs of the event.

Entry is free of charge, but space is limited, so organizers are encouraging would-be participants to apply early. Entry forms and shirts are available from the Parade of Lights office at 3600 S. Harbor Blvd., Suite 212, Oxnard. For information, call 985-4852.
