2 Vons Stores Closing: Supermarket chain Vons Inc. is closing two stores in Orange County in connection with its restructuring.
The Vons store at 8351 La Palma Ave. in Buena Park closed Wednesday. A sister store at 230 North Harbor Blvd. in Santa Ana will close Dec. 24.
The closings are part of a companywide attempt to improve profitability by closing “under-performing stores,” said Vons spokeswoman Julie Reynolds. “We’re closing stores that are under-performers and opening new stores in areas where we feel customers will support us.”
The company will still have more than a dozen locations in Orange County.
