Train Strikes, Kills Man in Lake Forest
LAKE FOREST — An unidentified man was struck and killed by a train late Friday night while walking along the tracks of a railroad bridge, authorities said Saturday.
Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Bill Leonard said a maintenance worker for a nearby golf center found the body about 10 p.m. Friday near Cherry Avenue and Jeronimo Road.
The train didn’t stop after the impact, Leonard said, and “I have to assume the engineer believed he didn’t hit anything.”
Los Angeles Amtrak station Supervisor Calvin Whetstone said the office was notified of the death, but he had no information about the fatality.
