PICO-UNION : Carnival to Include Health Screenings
The corner of Pico Boulevard and Alvarado Street will be the site of a five-day carnival sponsored by a newly formed coalition of community organizations.
The carnival, which opens Thursday, will feature a variety of rides, music, refreshments and booths with information about health and social service agencies.
On Saturday, various health tests will be available. On Sunday, there will be a special event featuring multicultural musicians and dancers. The carnival will be open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and from noon to 9 p.m. on the weekend.
The carnival is a fund-raiser for the Family Unity Coalition, which includes the Berendo Family Center, Community Counseling Services, Centro Desarollo Cultural, the Koryo Health Foundation and the Angelica Lutheran Church.
