Two South County Banks Robbed
Two South County banks, one in Laguna Niguel and the other in Mission Viejo, were robbed within 30 minutes of each other in apparently unrelated incidents Monday morning, authorities said.
The first holdup was at 9:55 a.m. at First Interstate Bank on Avery Parkway in Mission Viejo, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
In that case, the robber handed a teller a note demanding money and then showed a pistol. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money, authorities said.
In the second robbery, a man walked into San Clemente Savings on Aliso Creek Road in Laguna Niguel about 10:30 a.m. and gave a teller a note demanding money. No weapon was displayed.
The robber fled on foot, also with an undisclosed amount of money, authorities said.
No injuries were reported in the robberies.
