Bigger and Better: Satellite Technology Management Inc. said it will expand and upgrade the satellite-based communication networks for Investor’s Business Daily in Boston and for Organizacion Editorial Mexicana, the largest newspaper publisher in Mexico. The Investor’s Business Daily upgrade is scheduled to be completed next month. The company’s satellite system allows daily data transmission of all pages of the financial publication between its headquarters in Los Angeles and the Boston facility for local composition, printing and distribution. Expansion of the Organizacion Editorial Mexicana network will add a third satellite channel to its Mexico City central hub station. The company publishes more than 70 daily newspapers in Mexico. Satellite Technology Management manufactures and markets satellite communications equipment and software designed to support data, fax, voice and video transmission networks. The Costa Mesa company is embroiled in a technology exporting dispute with U.S. trade authorities over allegations it sent an embargoed computer workstation to Iran as part of one of its communication networks. Company officials claim the equipment in question was not covered by the federal embargo on exporting technology that can be employed in chemical, biological or nuclear weaponry.
